What have you been doing since graduation? II played baseball at JMU from 09-11 where I was drafted in the 4th round of the MLB draft. I have been playing pro baseball ever since. I have married the love of my life and we are expecting our 1st son to be born in early September 2016.
What are you doing now? I am still living the dream as a professional baseball player for the Washington Nationals organization.
Do you have one specific play or game you remember that stands out in your mind? If yes, please tell us what. My best memories of the Cosby baseball team are the camaraderies with teammates. I feel we had some of closest bonds as a team and as people, I have had in my career. We had a saying of BOB (band of brothers) and it truly was evident. We had a great coaching staff, experienced, well-versed, confident, and great guys to play for. There's a reason Cosby baseball keeps winning year after year, it's the coaching staff and the way they run things.
What is one of your favorite memories of Cosby Baseball? District tournament at LC Bird, 2007, playing Midlothian. Game was on the line. I had just scaled the home plate fence to catch a pop up. Bases loaded I believe and 3-2 count, 2 outs I want to say, ground ball to Ryan Parker at third, he kicks it, recovers and fires to first base and we get the runner. Midlothian goes nuts, they are distraught, we are unbelievably happy, and we go to the regionals in our first year of existence. Ronnie Shaban closed it out and that was some high level baseball for that time in my life.
How did Cosby Baseball help shape or prepare you for your future? Cosby baseball has been shaping my life since the beginning of 2006. I always knew I had some baseball skills and talent, but at my previous high school, they were not appreciated. I almost used it as motivation per-say. Cosby gave me confidence, I got to play with better players, made life-long friends, and will always remember my time at the school. I got to play for my Dad and not against him. I was able to get seen , recruited, scouted, etc for being in a better situation for myself and my career. I got to meet my wife at Cosby. What more can I say! The most hated 5 letter word in Chesterfield is "Cosby". I see it as one of the best 5 letter words in my life, even today.
