What have you been doing since graduation? I graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in psychology.
What are you doing now? I am currently working at VCU hospital and also going to VCU for their nursing program. After a couple years of being a bedside nurse I plan to go back to school to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
Do you have one specific play or game you remember that stands out in your mind? If yes, please tell us what. A specific play I can remember comes from one of our many games against James River. I can't remember exactly because there were so many. We were down big towards the end of the game and our morale was low. The chatter was quiet and we felt we couldn't pull the win off. Slowly bases started filling with walks and singles and we got a bit louder. Hunter Williams came to the plate and hit a grand slam off Griffin Roberts to give us the lead. It was always good to beat James River at their own field. Lastly, this isn't a play but I remember the time a new play named Joe (forgot last name) had just moved to town and asked for Coach Lowery's #19. We were all pretty stunned.
What is one of your favorite memories of Cosby Baseball? One of my favorite memories just has to be getting to know all the guys and creating a family. Everyone had their own sense of humor and we all clicked. I still keep in touch with many of the guys from the team to this day. It has been fun to watch the separate paths we have all taken. Also, scary to see everyone growing up like Brad McKay being engaged while I'm still eating hot pockets for lunch and dinner.
How did Cosby Baseball help shape or prepare you for your future? Once I got to college it really opened my eyes how Cosby baseball instilled hard work ethic into my everyday life. Whether it was on the field or in the classroom everything was done 100%. Coach Lowery had a different coaching style that not many kids now and days would understand. Getting upset with you did not mean he was mad, it simply meant he cared. I learned a lot about myself playing at Cosby under his leadership and I am forever grateful for that. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
