When Dorothy Louise Brewster was born on September 30, 1919, in Exeter, New Hampshire, her father, Guy, was 27, and her mother, Vivian, was 26. She married Arne John Gustav Bloom on May 19, 1945, in her hometown. She died on November 8, 2018, in Rye, New Hampshire, at the age of 99, and was buried in Arlington, Virginia.

Obituary

Dorothy L. Bloom of 1 Rye Lane, Rye, NH died on 11-8-2018 at home. She was born in Exeter, NH September 30, 1919, the daughter of the late V. Pauline (Dame) and Guy W. Brewster. She had been a Rye resident since 1979, coming from Melrose, Mass. She was a 1937 graduate of Robinson Female Seminary and a '41 graduate of UNH. Graduate courses were taken at University of Mass and Simmons College. Mrs. Bloom was a 4H Club Agent in Grafton County and taught Home Economics in Newmarket, NH and Melrose, Mass; retiring in 1979. She was a member of the American Quilters' Society and its' museum, New England Quilt Museum and its Auxiliary, Seabreeze Quilt Guild, Rye Over 55 Club, and was the former treasurer of Friends of Rye Library and was an RSVP volunteer on the Voice. She was the widow of the late Arne J. Bloom. Family members include daughter Marilyn B. Wallace and husband Laurence of Alfred, Maine; daughter Janet B. Bragg of Wolfeboro, NH; and son, Robert A. and wife Lynda Bloom of Greenland, NH; and grandchildren Shaun and Heidi Blauvelt and Rebecca Bean; and great-grandsons Brady E. Blauvelt and Lincoln Blauvelt Hanscom.
At her request, there will be no service. Her body was donated to Tufts Medical School and her cremated remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery on April 20, 2020, where she will join her husband, Arne J. Bloom.
