Obituary

 James P. Hodgkins of Stoneham, Oct. 16, 2010. Beloved husband of Elaine (Elton) Hodgkins. Loving son of the late Emma (Phillips) Hodgkins and James Hodgkins. Dear brother of the late William J. Hodgkins. Brother-in-law of Alice Amsden and her husband Ralph of NH & AZ and Marilyn Trumbull of NH. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.

James was a teacher in Melrose High School 1967-1994. He taught social sciences and was in charge of Student Government Day. He was voted "Most Memorable Teacher" 1992-1993 and 1993-1994. He was a Union Rep for Melrose Education Association for many years. He enjoyed coaching basketball and baseball before teaching in Melrose. Member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Stoneham, loyal alumni of Northeastern University, Member of Northeastern Alumni Assoc. James had a lecture hall dedicated to him because he participated in alumni activities and made important contributions. Jim and his wife Elaine liked to travel to new places. They spent winters in Florida and summers at a cottage in New Hampshire.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Thursday, at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service celebrating James' life in All Saints Episcopal Church, 79 Central St. Stoneham, at 11 a.m. Family and friends were cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday from 3-6:30 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available.
