When James Robert Morse was born on April 7, 1925, in Saugus, Massachusetts, his father, Thomas, was 21 and his mother, Barbara, was 23. He married on June 15, 1947, in his hometown. He had four children during his marriage. He died on September 15, 2008, in Wakefield, Massachusetts, at the age of 83.

Obituary

James R. Morse
James R. Morse, 83, a Navy veteran, a longtime Wakefield resident, and a teacher for 34 years at Melrose High School, died Monday at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 83.  Born in Saugus, Mr. Morse enlisted in the Navy in 1953, receiving his diploma from Saugus High School while serving on the destroyer escort USS Dobler.  He married Frances Adele Roberts in 1947 and graduated from Tufts University in 1946 with a bachelor's degree in English Literature.  He was an English teacher for 37 years.  He moonlighted as a musician/vocalist with the Cosmopolitan Trio, belonged to the Wakefield 929er's Banjo Club, and taught guitar.  He spent many hours in his woodworking shop, making furniture for his family.  He built his house.  In addition to his wife, Mr. Morse leaves three daughters, Ellen Schwartz, Emily Keough, and Sarah Phaneuf; five great-grandchildren.  A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday in First Congregational Church in Wakefield.

Keough and her husband David, and Sarah Phaneuf.  Brother of the late Thomas Dexter Morse of Wakefield.  Also survived by 5 beloved grandchildren, Jason, James, Tasha, Mollie, and George. And 3 beloved great-grandchildren.  Emiliana, Gabriel and Cameron.  Memorial service to be held at the 1st Congregational Church, 1 Church St, Wakefield, MA, Saturday September 20 at 10:00 am.  Reception to follow at the Bear Hill Gold Club, 2 North St, Stoneham, MA.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in the name of James R. Morse to the American Heart Association.
