Robert "Rick" Riccardi passed away in

enjoyed playing football and running track. He
studied computer sciences at Suffolk University
eventually obtaining his Masters . In his mid
twenties, Robert enlisted in OCS with the ARMY rising
to the rank of First Lieutenant with the Army
Transportation Corp during the Vietnam War. In
the 1970s, he began teaching computer sciences at
Melrose High School as well as taking on the role as
the director of their first computer center. After
twenty years of public education, Robert went on to
teach in the corporate sector for tech firm Boston
Technology, later acquired by Comverse Technology.
Here he taught others how to use their
telecommunication software. Robert was a reluctant
world traveler (he greatly disliked flying) for two
decades, educating trainees in multiple countries
across six continents until his retirement in 2008.
Robert married Christine Garvey on September 9,1967.
They met each other at a Melrose High School dance in
their teens and became lifelong soulmates, celebrating
over 58 years of marriage. They raised their three
sons in Melrose, MA.
Rick enjoyed being outside, whether doing yard
work or hiking in the bird sanctuaries. His
favorite activity was the game of tennis. He has made
so many lifelong friends playing tennis and was always
pushing himself to be better. If the sun was out and
the nets were up, he would be finding a way to sneak
out for an hour or two to play. His greatest
love of all was being a father and a
grandfather. He cherished all of the special
moments that his family weaved into the fabric of his
rich life.
