Parents: Martin Osgood Rockwood & Ada Louise Smith When Norman Osgood Rockwood was born on October 21, 1917, in Waltham, Massachusetts, his father, Martin, was 26 and his mother, Ada, was 29. He married Eleanor Mavis Brown on August 14, 1943, in Medford, Massachusetts. He died on September 10, 2007, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 89, and was buried in Bellingham, Massachusetts.

 Dr. Norman O. Rockwood formerly of Tewksbury, WWII vet;

89 LAKELAND, Fla. Dr. Norman O. Rockwood, age 89, died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Florida on September 10, 2007. Born in Waltham, MA, he was the son of the late Martin O. and Ada L. (Smith) Rockwood. Beloved husband of E. Mavis (Brown) Rockwood, and loving father of Sandra Poucher of Clearwater, Fla., and Marjorie Potvin of Lakeland, Fla., and the late Janis Ada Rockwood. Devoted Grandfather of Linda Merrill, Charles Farr, both of NH, Monika Overstreet, Eric Potvin, both of TN, and also 5 Great-Grandchildren.

Resident of Florida since 2003, and formerly of Tewksbury and Andover, MA. He was a Mathematics teacher at Melrose High School for 31 years including Department Head until retiring in 1983. A graduate of Dean Academy Class of 1935. He received his bachelor's degree from Tufts College Class of 1940, Master's degree from Springfield College (1942), and his Doctor of Philosophy through Army auspices at Harvard University (1956).

A WWII Army veteran with the rank of Captain, he continued in the Army Reserves and held the rank of Lt. Colonel before retiring in 1977. He was a longtime member of St. Matthews Masonic Lodge of Andover, MA, and the Merrimack Valley Daylight Lodge.

ROCKWOOD Funeral Services and Interment in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Route 140 Mechanic St., Bellingham, MA will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 12:00 Noon under the direction of Cartier's Funeral Home, Bellingham, MA.
