Obituary
Francis P. “Paul” Squatrito,
beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and
artist, passed away peacefully at Tufts Medical Center
on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the age of 85.
Born in Boston on December 29, 1938, Paul was one of
six children of the late Liborio and Vincenza
(Graffeo) Squatrito. Paul was raised in Everett, where
he graduated from Everett High School in 1958 before
pursuing his passion for art at the Massachusetts
College of Art, ultimately obtaining a Master's
Degree.
Having proudly served in the US Army, Paul dedicated
38 years of his life as a fine arts teacher at Melrose
High School, where he influenced countless young minds
with his love for all forms of art. He was
instrumental in taking art students on inspiring tours
to Italy and continued to volunteer in the art
department even after retirement.
Throughout his life, Paul found joy in painting,
sculpting, drawing, and traveling, always eager to
learn and explore new artistic endeavors. His love for
art extended beyond the classroom, as he found solace
and inspiration in regular visits to museums and
galleries.
A captain of the basketball, baseball, and football
teams during his school years, Paul exemplified
strength and determination both on and off the field.
Yet, it was his compassionate and supportive nature
that truly defined him, as he was cherished by his
family and friends for his unwavering love and
kindness.
Paul will be remembered as a creative visionary, a
loving patriarch, and a true friend to all who had the
privilege to know him. His legacy of passion,
kindness, and artistry will live on in the hearts of
those he touched.
Paul was the beloved husband and best friend of
Marguerite C. (Sartini) Squatrito with whom he shared
58 years of marriage, love, support, and joy.
Devoted father of Carl D. Squatrito and Mary of
Methuen, and Glen M. Squatrito and his wife Bethany of
Melrose. Loving brother of the late Joseph
Squatrito, Grace Pace, Leo, Anthony, and Angelo
Squatrito. Cherished grandfather of Christopher,
Carl, Serena, Paul, and John Squatrito.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to
gather in honor of Paul’s life during Visiting Hours
