Obituary

LOWELL, MA -- Edward J. Swiniarski, Sr., 83, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Northwood Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Lowell, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary June (Murray) Swiniarski, with whom he would have celebrated 61 loving years of marriage on January 8th.

Born in Lowell on December 24, 1932, he was a son of the late John S. and Gertrude M. (Morrisette) Swiniarski. Edward was a graduate of Dracut High School and a student at Tilton Academy, and then went on to proudly serve his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged. Edward worked for many years as a milkman at his family's business, Swiniarski's Dracut Dairies. At the age of 40, he went back to school and attended the former Lowell Technological Institute and later Fitchburg State College, where he earned his Bachelor and Masters degrees in Industrial Arts and Education.

Prior to his retirement, Edward was an Industrial Arts teacher at Melrose High School where he touched the lives of many students.

Edward loved cars, and greatly enjoyed driving, especially taking his Cadillac on trips to Vermont and the New England countryside. He was an extremely talented wood worker, and will always be remembered for the beautiful, custom grandfather clocks and various pieces of furniture that he built.

In addition to his wife, Edward is survived and will be deeply missed by his four children, John Swiniarski and his wife, Beth of Pelham, NH, Stanley Swiniarski and his wife, Lynn of Dracut, Edward Swiniarski of Simsbury, CT, and Nancy Swiniarski of Dracut; two siblings, John "Jake" Swiniarski Jr. and his wife, Colleen of Dracut, and Mary Ann Fountain and her husband, Ronald of Brookfield Corner, NH; four grandchildren, Sarah Sievering and her husband, Philip of Jersey City, NJ, Andrew Swiniarski and his wife, Mindy of Simsbury, CT, Michael Swiniarski of Lowell, and Brendan Swiniarski of Simsbury, CT; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

SWINIARSKI -- Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on SATURDAY, January 2nd from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. His Funeral Mass will directly follow in St. Rita's Church, Lowell. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell.
