Obituary

BARBER, Timothy Robert Born in Bennington, Vermont, December 19, 1958 to Robert and Margaret (Gordon) Barber. He grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts and was a member of the Melrose High School, class of 1976. After earning a BS from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio in 1981, Tim returned to the Boston area. In May 1995, he married Mary Catherine Hillmer and they settled in Needham, Massachusetts where they raised children, Elizabeth Helen and William Walter Barber. Tim worked as a Principal Software Engineer at Cognex for over 27 years. An avid cyclist, skier, hiker, nature enthusiast, woodworker, and stargazer, he also loved spending time with his extended family, especially on Cape Cod and at Thompson Lake in Maine. Tim's primary focus was always his beloved wife, Mary, and their children, Elizabeth and Will. He also cherished time with his friends whether biking with buddies in his neighborhood, gathering for Soup Night, or keeping in touch with friends from childhood. Tim died peacefully at home with his family on July 22, 2021 after battling lung cancer for a year and a half.
