Joan L. "Joanie" (Sherman) Murphy

Joanie loved summer vacations in Sandwich with her family, camping trips and enjoyed many ski vacations with her husband, brothers and sisters.

Joan L. "Joanie" (Sherman) Murphy, of Reading, formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 2, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. She was 68 years of age.
Joanie loved summer vacations in Sandwich with her family, camping trips  and enjoyed many ski vacations with her husband, brothers and sisters  As a devout church goer, Joanie shared her great faith with the Saint Agnes ministry and community 
Her greatest joy was proudly watching  her son Danny graduate college
Joanie is the beloved wife of the late Thomas Murphy. She is the cherished mother of Danny Murphy. Loving sister of AnneMarie Panneton and her husband Robert, William Sherman and his wife Paula, Elaine Johnson and her husband Calvin, Clare Leonard and her husband Ronald, Gregory Sherman and his wife Karen and Robert Sherman and his wife Kathleen. Daughter of the late William and Germaine (Soulard) Sherman. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass Celebrating Joanie's Eternal Life will be held on Wednesday July 15th, 2026 in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. READING at 10:30 am.
