Obituary

THORNTON, David Charles Age 60, of Newburyport, MA, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 19, 2018.

Born in Melrose, MA, on January 22, 1958, he was the son of Evelyn J. (Herrick) Thornton of Newburyport and the late Harry L. Thornton, Jr. who died May 12, 2017.

After graduating from Melrose High School with the Class of 1976, he went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell Campus. David had many jobs over the years including a Sales Engineer for electronic materials and software, his own pool business as well as various construction jobs. Most recently he was semi-retired spending most of his time traveling overseas. In addition to his mother, Evelyn, David leaves behind two brothers, Alan Thornton and fiancée Michele Desoto of Seabrook, NH and Steven Thornton and wife Lisa of Windham, NH; a nephew, Alexander Thornton of Amesbury; three nieces, Allison Thornton of Atlanta, GA, Lauren Thornton of Charlestown, MA and Elyse Thornton of Derry, NH, along with extended family and dear friends.

By request of the family, Funeral Services and burial will be private. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, AMESBURY.
